The week
| Day 1 | Read the summary. Five key ideas and where the book overreaches. |
| Day 2 | Ask the focusing question. Ask the focusing question about your work, write down your answer, and do one step of it today. Bad day: Write your one thing for today. |
| Day 3 | Set goals to the now. Write your someday goal, then work back to five years, one year, one month, one week, today, and right now. Bad day: Write your one-year goal and the one thing for this week. |
| Day 4 | Block the time. Put a protected block of at least 90 minutes on your calendar for your one thing, and keep it. Bad day: Book a 30-minute block tomorrow named after your one thing. |
| Day 5 | Stop multitasking for a day. Do one thing at a time all day, finishing or deliberately pausing each task before starting the next. Bad day: For your next task, close everything else until it's done. |
| Day 6 | Find your dominoes. List the steps toward your one-year goal in the order they need to happen, and pick the first domino. Bad day: Write the first step toward your one-year goal. |
| Day 7 | Protect your block. Write three rules for protecting your time block, and use them in this week's block. Bad day: Write one rule for protecting your next block. |
