The week
| Day 1 | Read the summary. Five key ideas and where the book overreaches. |
| Day 2 | Find the small reasons. Write down five moments from the past week that made you glad to be alive, however small. Bad day: Write down the one moment this week you'd most like to repeat. |
| Day 3 | Plan for flow. Pick one activity that absorbs you, schedule 30 minutes for it, and remove distractions while you do it. Bad day: Write down the activity that most often makes you lose track of time, and when you'll next do it. |
| Day 4 | Stop at 80 percent. At one meal today, eat slowly and stop when you feel about 80 percent full. Bad day: At your next meal, pause halfway through and ask how full you are. |
| Day 5 | Move like a gardener. Add three short bouts of gentle movement to your day, at least ten minutes in total. Bad day: Stand up and walk or stretch for two minutes right now. |
| Day 6 | Start a small moai. Invite two or three people to a regular, low-key meetup and set the first date. Bad day: Send one friend a message suggesting a specific time to meet. |
| Day 7 | Write your ikigai sentence. Write one sentence that describes your reason to get up in the morning, based on what you noticed this week. Bad day: Finish the sentence “I get up in the morning to...” |
